Kim Kardashian Says ChatGPT Made Her Flunk Her Law Exams

Kim Kardashian has a bone to pick with artificial intelligence. In a new Vanity Fair video published this week, the reality TV star, entrepreneur, and aspiring lawyer admitted that OpenAI’s ChatGPT may have sabotaged her study sessions — and not in a small way.

Kardashian, who has been on her unconventional law journey since 2019, sat down for the popular Vanity Fair Lie Detector Test series, where celebrities answer candid questions while hooked up to a polygraph. When asked about her relationship with AI, Kim didn’t hesitate to throw ChatGPT under the bus.

“No, I don’t consider AI a friend,” Kardashian confessed with a laugh. “I use it for legal advice. When I need to know something, I’ll take a picture, snap it, and put it in there. But it’s always wrong. It made me fail tests all the time!”

As her friend and co-star Teyana Taylor playfully accused her of “cheating,” Kim quickly clarified that she only used the chatbot to study — though it often backfired. “And then I’ll get mad and yell at it, like, ‘You made me fail! Why did you do this?’” she said, keeping a straight face.

Apparently, the AI even talks back. “She’ll tell me, ‘This is just teaching you to trust your instincts. You knew the answer all along,’” Kardashian added, mimicking ChatGPT’s soft-spoken reassurance.

Kim’s frustration is surprisingly relatable — after all, generative AI is infamous for confidently spitting out wrong answers. ChatGPT doesn’t really “know” anything; it predicts text based on patterns, not logic or truth. It’s a powerful illusion — more digital magician than legal scholar.

Kardashian’s candid confession highlights both the appeal and pitfalls of AI tools in education. While they’re marketed as study partners and productivity boosters, they can easily lead users astray — even those as resourceful as Kim K herself.

Beyond her AI adventures, Kim has been steadily working toward her legal ambitions. She passed California’s “baby bar” in 2021 and reportedly earned her law degree earlier this year. She took the full bar exam in July and is currently awaiting the results, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Meanwhile, Kim and Teyana Taylor are promoting their new Hulu legal drama, All’s Fair, which premiered this week — though critics haven’t been kind, giving it a disappointing 18/100 on Metacritic. Still, Kim’s willingness to laugh at herself (and at ChatGPT’s “helpful” failures) might just be her most relatable moment yet.
